Automotive Wireless Component Compliance Readiness Checklist

Determine what you need to do to satisfy new requirements for automotive wireless components.

Wireless components in vehicles, such as sensors, communication modules and infotainment systems, are more rapidly penetrating the automotive industry than ever before.

Automotive wireless components must pass electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) tests that measure critical criteria for vehicle safety and reliability, including radio frequency (RF) noise emitted and resilience to interference from external sources.

Our EMC and Wireless Readiness Checklist can help you determine what steps you have already taken to comply with the new regulation and identify which areas require more work to satisfy new requirements.

The checklist can also help you assess whether your component is ready to go or needs another check, and it can help you answer the following questions:

  • Will you need to perform in-country testing to comply with the regulations in your target countries?
  • What certifications can be obtained quickly?
  • Will the approvals imply maintenance costs?
  • Will a local representative be required to apply for the mandatory certifications?

Find out what your company needs to do to attain the Global Market Access certifications by considering your responses to the following questions.

  • Do you have a good understanding of or any previous experience in the radio certification processes for automotive components?
  • How many models, variants or versions of the automotive component do you plan to launch to the market?
  • Do you already have accredited test reports to comply with European regulations?
  • Do you already have accredited test reports to comply with U.S. regulations?
  • Do you know the countries in which you would like to sell your automotive components?
  • What are the radio features or technologies used by your automated component?
  • Do you know the certification requirements for the desired countries?
  • Do you already have local representatives or importers in the countries where you would like to sell?
  • Do you know the expected product lifetime?
  • Have you planned the date that you intend to launch the product to the market?

If you answered “no” or “not sure” to any of the questions, UL Solutions can help. Contact us for assistance with these and other compliance-related questions. We leverage more than 130 years of experience in global market certifications and stand committed to answering your questions.
