Textiles, Apparel and Footwear: India Consults Draft for Textile Standards

The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) is consulting on three standards for textile products.

These standards are: 

  • TXD 20 (27312) - Textiles - Children Apparel Safety Specification (June 14, 2025)
    • This standard has been formulated to address the various risks associated with children’s wear, including chemical, mechanical and general safety concerns. The safety of children is a paramount concern for parents, guardians and all stakeholders involved in the production and design of children’s clothing. Children’s garments shall be designed with the utmost care to protect them from potential hazards.
  • TXD 20 (28076) - Textiles - Woven Shirt Specification (May 23, 2025)
    • This standard has been formulated to prescribe minimum performance requirements and acceptable tolerances for essential quality parameters of woven shirts.
  • TXD 20 (27321) - Textiles - Woven Trouser Specification (May 15, 2025)
    • This standard specifies the minimum performance requirements and permissible tolerances for quality parameters of woven trousers.
